Exact-package comparison
Toro 21323 vs 21323T vs 21326: push, battery kit, or self-propel?
Toro's model codes 21323, 21323T, and 21326 describe three useful distinctions rather than three interchangeable package names. The first is a push mower kit with a 4.0 Ah battery and charger. The T model is the related push mower body without a battery or charger. The 21326 is a 21-inch self-propelled model whose exact kit includes a 5.0 Ah battery and charger. Decide first how you want the mower to move, then check whether the box includes the power equipment you need.
Start with the travel arrangement
Both 21323 configurations are push-only. There is no powered rear-wheel drive, so the person mowing supplies the forward force and steering. If pushing is fine on your route and you prefer a simpler manual control arrangement, the 21323 kit is the supplied-power version and 21323T is the bare tool. If self-propel is essential, Toro 21326 adds a drive bar. Its manual describes a fixed maximum speed and reducing speed by changing the gap between the bar and handle; it is not Toro Personal Pace. That control difference affects how the mower moves, not just which battery sits in the kit.
Then check the battery in the exact box
| Model | Travel | Included power equipment | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21323 | Push only | One 4.0 Ah Toro 60V battery and charger | The stated runtime/area are maker estimates, not a guarantee. |
| 21323T | Push only | No battery or charger | Do not carry the sibling kit's battery capacity or runtime into the bare-tool configuration. |
| 21326 | Self-propelled drive bar | One 5.0 Ah Toro 60V battery and charger | The drive bar is not the same as Personal Pace; verify accessory contents separately. |
The exact product pages and shared manual family name these configurations separately. That exact model code is more reliable than a retailer photo: Toro's main rendering for 21323 and 21323T shows a battery installed even though 21323T is sold without one. The manufacturer table for the T package marks battery and run time as not included. A bare-tool mower only makes a complete mowing setup if you already have, or separately obtain, the correct compatible battery and charger.
Cutting system and clipping setup
The 21323 and 21323T share a 21-inch 15-gauge steel Recycler push body, a 1.25-to-3.75-inch two-point height range, and a 2.0-bushel bag. Toro's 21326 is also a 21-inch steel-deck walk-behind, but its powered drive changes the operating plan. The manual for this family explains the Recycler/mulching setup and bag installation. The side-discharge chute is separate hardware; it is not automatically present because a product page describes three-way clipping. Confirm the chute is physically available before you select side discharge as a ready-to-mow route.
On any of these, the nominal deck width does not state whole-machine width at the wheels or handle. Measure gate clearance and storage space. SmartStow can reduce the footprint when folded vertically, but the shared 21323 manual specifies a safe preparation sequence: remove battery and start button, set the height to at least 1-3/4 inches, and keep cables clear of the locks. The manual also cautions against starting or transporting the mower vertically.
How to use the published battery estimate
Toro advertises up to 42 minutes and one-third acre for 21323's included 4.0 Ah pack. Treat that as the maker's maximum estimate for its kit, not a promise for a particular lawn. Grass height and density, terrain, turns, pace, cut height, and clipping choice can change the result. Toro's page for 21323T has broad runtime messaging but also identifies the battery and runtime as not included; without an exact selected battery in the package, no included-pack capacity, runtime, or acreage threshold should be matched to the T model. The 21326 package has its own 5.0 Ah maker estimate; it should be compared as a different kit, not attributed to either 21323 code.
Which one matches the job?
- Choose 21323 if you want push-only operation and the 4.0 Ah battery and charger delivered with the mower.
- Choose 21323T if you already have compatible Toro 60V power equipment and do not need the package to supply a battery or charger.
- Compare 21326 if powered travel is a requirement; it is a self-propel drive-bar mower with a separate 5.0 Ah kit configuration.
For all three, follow the exact operator manual: avoid rain and wet grass, do not cut more than roughly one-third of the grass blade in one pass, and mow across rather than up and down a slope. The manual does not provide a numeric maximum grade for these models. If your requirement depends on an exact slope rating, battery-less area guarantee, or included side-discharge chute, the listed evidence does not establish it. Compare what is actually in the carton and what the manual instructs, rather than filling gaps with a nearby model's specifications.
