Ownership and care
A safer cleanup and storage routine for battery mowers
Remove power before service
The linked EGO 56V mower manual directs the operator to turn the mower off, remove the battery and wait for the blade to stop before cleaning, clearing a chute or removing the bag, mulch insert or side-discharge chute. The blade can continue rotating briefly after power is released. Use the exact manual's blade-handling procedure and keep hands away from the deck.
Use the stated cleaning method
The manual's cleaning page says not to put water on the motor fan and to wipe the mower with a damp cloth after removing the battery. It does not establish permission to rinse or hose down the mower. A weather-resistance rating is not a cleaning instruction; keep water away from the motor fan, battery contacts and charging equipment.
Check the manual-to-model bridge
The manual cover lists LM2130SP/LM2130/LM2150SP families; it does not list the LM2135, LM2135SP or LM2156SP kit codes reviewed here. EGO links it from the 800-series product pages, so it is useful platform guidance, but confirm the current instructions that apply to the exact SKU you own.
Store the machine and battery as instructed
Remove the battery when the mower is idle and keep the mower in a dry, covered location. Store the battery and charger according to their own manuals, away from children, moisture and prohibited temperatures. Never store a damaged battery without following the manufacturer's safety process.
Inspect before cutting
Check the mowing area for stones, sticks, wire, toys and other objects the blade could throw. Inspect safety components, blades and fasteners on the schedule in the manual. Stop if vibration or damage appears. The linked manual says not to mow wet grass or slopes greater than 15 degrees; verify the applicable instructions for the exact model.
These are practical reminders from the linked EGO manual, not a replacement for the full manual or manufacturer service advice.
