Battery and exact configuration
EGO 21-inch 2100-series mower kits: bare tool, one pack or two?
The EGO 21-inch 2100 family is easiest to shop when you separate mower operation from the exact battery package. The push platform uses the LM2100 base code; the self-propelled platform uses LM2100SP. EGO’s US configuration pages list bare-tool and battery-included codes on those two platforms. A similar-looking mower can arrive with no battery, one 5.0 Ah pack, one 7.5 Ah pack or two 4.0 Ah packs, so compare the model suffix before you compare price or runtime.
Push-only: LM2100 or LM2101
LM2100 is mower only: the page lists neither battery nor charger. It is most sensible when you already own compatible EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries and a charger, or have a deliberate plan to obtain them. LM2101 is the kit configuration with one 5.0 Ah battery and a Rapid Charger. Both are push-only; the kit adds power equipment, not powered travel. EGO advertises up to 45 minutes with a recommended 5.0 Ah battery, while the manual gives light-, medium- and heavy-load estimates and warns that grass affects runtime.
Do not assume a bare tool is a better value for a new user. Price the needed battery and charger separately, check whether an existing pack has enough charge for the mowing session, and remember that a larger battery cannot turn a push mower into a self-propelled machine.
Self-propelled: LM2100SP, LM2102SP or LM2102SP-A
LM2100SP is mower only, without a battery or charger. The LM2102SP kit includes one 7.5 Ah battery and a Rapid Charger. The exact LM2102SP-A package instead includes two 4.0 Ah batteries and a Rapid Charger. These three SKUs share the self-propelled mower platform, but the starter package is not the same.
The manual describes a drive trigger and a separate variable-speed lever, with the drive independent of the cutting blade. EGO gives a 0.9–3.1 mph travel range and advertises up to 60 minutes with a 7.5 Ah battery. Its manual estimates shorter times under medium and heavy loads. The LM2102SP-A’s two 4.0 Ah packs are used one at a time in a single battery compartment. The manual does not give an exact runtime for that package, so do not add the two battery capacities or promise the same session as the 7.5 Ah kit.
What remains shared—and what remains unknown
Both platforms have a 21-inch cut, six height settings from 1.5 to 4 inches, one-handed adjustment, LED lights and a two-bushel bag. EGO lists mulching, bagging and side discharge. The manual describes the mulch insert, collection bag and chute. These modes are alternatives, not simultaneous settings. Bagging means handling collected clippings; mulching works best when the amount and condition of grass are manageable; side discharge leaves clippings in the cut path.
The exact pages and linked manual do not establish deck material or maximum torque for these SKUs. They also do not confirm a separate high-lift blade in each exact package. An available compatible accessory is not proof it arrives in the carton. The manufacturer pages currently mark these configuration rows “Coming Soon” and do not establish live stock or price; the exact model term is the safest way to check retailers without confusing the bare tool and kit variants.
Pick by the work, then verify the box
Choose push-only if you are comfortable supplying all forward motion. Choose the self-propelled base if you want powered travel and the trigger/lever arrangement. Then decide whether you need a bare mower for an existing battery system, a single larger pack, or two smaller packs for sequential use. The published runtime belongs to the stated battery and load, not to every package sharing the mower body.
Before ordering, verify the full SKU, battery count and capacity per pack, charger and included clipping parts. Measure gates and storage separately; a 21-inch deck does not establish whole-machine clearance. The manual says not to mow wet grass or slopes greater than 15 degrees, to remove the battery before cleaning or clearing and not to hose the deck underside. Compare the linked model reviews for the exact package and limitations rather than assuming a suffix only changes the battery.
