Three-way comparison
EGO LM2206SP, LM2236SP or LM2244SP-2?
Three-way comparison · EGO 22-inch walk-behinds
These EGO 22-inch self-propelled battery mowers share a broad cut width, Touch Drive and a Select Cut system, but the package, deck and operating details are not interchangeable. The choice is not simply between “more power” and “less power.” Decide first whether cast aluminum or Super Composite is important, then whether a single 10 Ah pack or two 6 Ah packs suits your charging routine.
Start with the deck material
The LM2206SP has a cast-aluminum deck and EGO publishes up to 11.1 ft-lb of torque and blade speeds up to 3,350 rpm. EGO lists a lifetime limited deck warranty with registration. It is the only aluminum option in this comparison and the 83.8 lb bare-tool weight in its linked manual is higher than the published manual weights for the other two. If your route involves lifting the mower or tight turning, the material and weight deserve attention alongside the performance specification.
LM2236SP and LM2244SP-2 use the 22-inch Super Composite deck, for which EGO states a 10-year limited deck warranty. Both publish 10.6 ft-lb of torque and blade speeds up to 3,200 rpm. The product pages describe the composite material as resistant to dents, rust and corrosion; those are manufacturer statements, not our comparative durability testing. Select the warranty and deck material you can live with, not an assumption that one construction always outperforms the other.
One 10 Ah pack or two 6 Ah packs?
LM2236SP is the simple single-pack configuration: one 10.0 Ah battery and a 700 W Turbo Charger, with EGO listing up to 75 minutes of runtime. LM2244SP-2 includes two 6.0 Ah batteries and a dual-port charger; its two active ports and Peak Power technology combine two EGO batteries, and EGO lists up to 90 minutes with the included packs. The latter is a two-battery routine, not a single 12 Ah battery. Its 90-minute number is tied to ECO mode and favorable conditions, not a guaranteed area-per-charge result.
The LM2206SP also comes as a one-pack 10.0 Ah kit with a 700 W Turbo Charger. EGO lists up to 70 minutes and up to 11.1 ft-lb of torque. If the largest single included pack is your limit, both one-pack kits meet a per-pack 10 Ah minimum; if two active battery ports are essential, only LM2244SP-2 meets that recorded condition. A minimum battery-pack capacity question checks the size of each individual pack, not a sum that would blur different battery arrangements.
Controls and clipping routines
All three are self-propelled walk-behinds with a 0.9–3.1 mph speed range stated by EGO. They require an operator to steer and supervise them. Each has eight cutting-height settings spanning 1–4 inches. LM2206SP uses front and rear adjustment levers. The composite models use a five-position clip selector to adjust among bagging, mulching and intermediate settings; the manuals also show a side-discharge chute. Their bag capacity is 2.5 bushels.
LM2244SP-2 adds an LCD status screen. The linked LM2236SP-family manual describes an indicator panel instead. The exact kit evidence is SKU-specific: Acme Tools itemizes a High-Lift Bagging lower blade in its LM2236SP package, while exact contents for LM2206SP and LM2244SP-2 are still unresolved here. If that blade is essential, count LM2236SP only when the listing you choose matches the same LM2236SP kit; do not borrow its package contents for a different suffix or confuse an optional compatible accessory with a confirmed included part.
Safe operation and your own lawn
The linked manuals for these families list a 15-degree slope limit, advise against mowing wet grass and direct users to remove the battery before cleaning or blade work. The 22-inch deck can be a poor fit for a narrow side gate even if the yard itself is open. Check the entire machine's path, storage position and the way you will remove and charge its batteries. A published runtime, IPX4 splash-resistance mark or high torque figure does not establish performance on your specific slope or grass.
Choose by the constraint that would rule out a mower
Choose the LM2206SP when a cast-aluminum deck, its deck warranty and the 10 Ah single-battery package fit. Choose the LM2236SP when you want one 10 Ah battery on a composite deck and do not need dual-port operation. Choose the LM2244SP-2 when the two-pack Peak Power setup and LCD readout are worth managing. If a 21-inch deck fits your gate better, read the LM2156SP assessment instead. Use the finder to require a deck material or port count only when it actually decides fit; otherwise keep both choices open.
