Husqvarna TS 275XD 42 or 48? Separate it from TS 375XD

A close model name and a shared 48-inch deck width do not make these Husqvarna tractors interchangeable. Compare the exact U.S. article number, deck construction, engine, differential, included clipping equipment and manual before choosing among TS 275XD 42IN, TS 275XD 48IN and TS 375XD 48IN.

Start with what the route can accommodate

The TS 275XD 42IN (970847001) has a fitted 42-inch, two-blade fabricated deck; the TS 275XD 48IN (970847101) has a 48-inch, three-blade fabricated deck. The TS 375XD 48IN (970847201) is another separate 48-inch model. Its exact manual lists a 24-hp Kawasaki FR730V engine and 675-pound empty weight, compared with the TS 275XD 48IN’s 23-hp FR691-DS15 and 610 pounds empty. Both models list a three-blade fabricated 48-inch deck, cruise control and an automatic-locking differential. The 65-pound difference and 1-hp gross-rating difference identify documented hardware distinctions, not an independent claim of stronger mowing or faster work. The nominal cut widths do not state the complete outside width, turning radius or storage clearance. Measure the narrowest gate, approach, garage opening and turning space with allowance for tires and attachments. If the route does not fit, the wider deck’s possible pass-count advantage on open straight sections is irrelevant.

The 42-inch TS 275XD manual lists 567 pounds with empty tanks. The 48-inch TS 275XD manual lists 610 pounds empty; its engine is Kawasaki FR691-DS15 at 23 hp gross rated by Kawasaki. The 42 has a Kawasaki FR651V rated at 21.5 hp. These model-specific engine-maker ratings and weights help distinguish configurations, but are not cut-quality, fuel-use, productivity or mowing-area measurements. Husqvarna’s shared family studio render does not reveal which deck width is fitted; use the model page and manual rather than judging width from the picture.

Decide on the working format and terrain

Both TS 275XD models use steering-wheel lawn-tractor controls with pedal-operated hydrostatic forward/reverse and an automatic-locking differential. The TS 375XD also uses a steering wheel, but it is a distinct model; verify its own manual and exact facts for any threshold rather than copying TS 275XD values. These are not lap-bar zero-turns. If tight obstacles require turning behavior the sources do not establish, arrange an in-person fit check and compare a walk-behind or another format rather than assuming the tractor will clear.

The TS 275XD manuals set a 15-degree maximum for private-garden mower-only use, direct mowing up and down instead of across, and warn about wet grass, edges, ditches and stability. The manuals also warn attachments may change stability. An exact attachment-equipped numeric slope limit was not verified for the TS 275XD 42 or 48, so keep that requirement unresolved if you plan to bag or mulch on a slope. No mower’s maximum angle should be treated as a guarantee that any particular ground is safe.

Bagging and mulching require exact accessory choices

Both base TS 275XD configurations have side-discharge setups. For the 42-inch deck, Husqvarna lists mulch kit 587412301 and 42-inch double bagger 587412701; the bagger listing describes six bushels. For the 48-inch deck, exact fit-table pages list mulch kit 582559901 and triple bagger 582559601; the bagger listing describes nine bushels. Each is separately sold. Do not treat a search result, a similar model name or an accessory photo as proof that the kit is included or fits another deck.

Questionnaire choices should separate “I want to bag” from “the mower must arrive with a bagger.” The TS 275XD can be configured for a documented bagging plan by obtaining the exact compatible separate collector, but neither base model is shown to include it. If in-box collection is essential, these models fail unless the specific offer proves a bundled kit. If you require a slope limit while using the collector, no mower-only limit can fill that unknown attachment fact.

Make the choice condition-specific

• Favor TS 275XD 42IN when the tractor format fits and you specifically need the narrower 42-inch fabricated deck. Its official page and linked manual conflict on forward maximum speed, so do not use that figure to rank it.
• Favor TS 275XD 48IN when the wider three-blade deck, 23-hp Kawasaki rating and exact model’s separate 48-inch accessories fit your property and package plan. The manual lists 5.5 mph forward and 2.5 mph reverse maximum travel speeds; these do not predict mowing pace.
• Compare TS 375XD 48IN only against a specific documented difference you need. Its 48-inch width alone does not make it equivalent to TS 275XD 48IN. Confirm its exact article number, engine, manual and equipment rather than importing a TS 275XD result.

For all three, confirm serial-specific safety information and the exact retailer package before buying. If exact measurements, accessory-equipped slope limits, working time or field cut quality are decisive, these sources do not establish the answer. Use the manufacturer’s exact-model support or choose equipment whose documentation directly addresses the constraint.
