Lawn-tractor comparison
Husqvarna TS 375XD 48 or 54? Compare deck fit and setup
The TS 375XD 48 and TS 375XD 54 share the same steering-wheel tractor format and Kawasaki FR730V-family V-twin, but they are not one deck configuration with two interchangeable labels. Their exact U.S. article numbers are 970847201 and 970847301. The linked manuals specify a 48- or 54-inch fabricated deck, respectively, and both pages describe a push-button electric locking differential, hydrostatic pedal travel, cruise control and a suspended high-back seat.
What changes when you choose 54 inches
The TS 375XD 54 adds six inches of cutting width and lists five anti-scalp wheels; the 48 lists four. The 54 manual gives 690 pounds with empty tanks, compared with 675 pounds for the exact 48 manual. Both manuals list a three-blade deck, the Kawasaki FR730V, 24 hp, a four-gallon tank, 5.5 mph forward and 2.5 mph reverse, and 1.5-to-4-inch deck height. These published numbers help identify the configurations; they do not predict cut quality, fuel use or time saved on a particular lawn.
Think of the wider model as a fit decision. Six extra inches may reduce passes across open space, yet it also calls for more clearance around a gate, tree, ramp and tight turn. The actual tractor width and turning dimensions must be checked against your route; deck width is not a complete machine measurement. The small published weight difference also does not replace checking trailer and storage capacity for the unit with fuel and attachments.
Clippings and slopes are separate setup questions
Both tractors have a fitted mower deck, while their grass catcher and mulch plug are optional. For the 48-inch model, Husqvarna lists a 48-inch collector and mulch kit separately. For the 54, the exact fit records identify a nine-bushel 54-inch triple bagger and a matching mulch kit. Do not assume that either accessory is bundled with a mower or that accessories fit just because they share the TS 375XD name: verify the width and exact article before choosing a package.
The exact mower manuals give both tractors a 15-degree maximum for private-garden slopes, direct the operator to mow up and down rather than across and warn about wet grass, edges and stability. Those are mower-only boundaries, not endorsements to operate at the maximum. The 54-inch bagger and mulch kit are separate plans; no accessory-specific numeric slope limit has been established here. Do not transfer the mower-only number to an attachment-equipped setup.
Which one fits your work?
Prefer the 48 if six inches of narrower cutting path materially improves access or if the slightly lower empty-tank weight is useful for your hauling and storage constraints. Consider the 54 if your open route comfortably fits it and a wider deck supports the mowing pattern you want. Neither answer should be made from advertised engine output alone: both use the same listed engine output and controls, while surrounding obstacles and clipping disposal change the practical choice. A smaller TS 140X or TS 275XD may be a more appropriate tractor if the measured route calls for less width. For either TS 375XD, treat cruise control and the locking differential as convenience/traction features—not substitutes for manual limits, good footing or safe mowing conditions.
