Exact-package comparison

RYOBI P1108BTL or P1180? Compare the 13-inch 18V mower packages

The RYOBI P1108BTL and P1180 are two purchase choices around the 18V ONE+ 13-inch push mower body. The first is the tool-only listing; the second is the page’s mower kit with a 4Ah battery and charger. They do not represent different cutting widths or travel systems. Start by deciding whether a 13-inch operator-pushed mower is a good match for the lawn, then decide whether the kit includes equipment you need.

First question: can a 13-inch mower suit your route?

A 13-inch cutting path may be convenient around short strips, obstacles and tight transitions. It also means more parallel passes across an open rectangle than a 16- or 20-inch mower. Measure the narrowest gate and turning area, but do not confuse a narrow deck with a complete answer to difficult terrain: this remains a mower that the operator pushes. If the yard has long runs and you want powered travel, compare an exact self-propelled mower rather than searching for an extra battery kit.

RYOBI lists seven height positions between 1.5 and 4 inches. The exact P1108 manual documents two clipping arrangements—mulching with the plug or rear bagging with the catcher—and does not establish side discharge. That choice should match how you handle clippings. If you need a side-discharge chute or a separate leaf-shredding setup, choose a product whose own manual verifies that plan.

P1108BTL: mower body for an existing 18V setup

The P1108BTL page identifies a tool-only configuration. The mower manual’s packing list still gives the practical assembly pieces and mower accessories: the handle hardware, start key, mulch plug, catcher and operator manual. The battery and charger are not part of this exact tool-only package. It is a reasonable route when you already own compatible 18V ONE+ equipment and can confirm the pack is serviceable. It is not the right answer to an essential “battery included” requirement.

The page’s runtime and yard-size statements are conditional. RYOBI says up to 30 minutes and an ideal area up to one-quarter acre using a 4Ah ONE+ battery. P1108BTL does not include that pack, and those figures are manufacturer claims, not verified cut times or guarantees. A buyer supplying a smaller, older or heavily used battery should not assume the same result.

P1180: the one-pack-and-charger kit

The P1180 product page is the exact kit listing. Its written package detail identifies a P1108 mower body, one PBP005 4.0Ah battery and one PCG002 charger. The mower has one battery port, so this is a single-pack operating setup, not a dual-pack mower with automatic switching. The P1180 image shows the mower with a battery and charger; the catcher, mulch plug and start key are verified from package/manual details and need not all appear in the photo.

This kit can be simpler for someone without a compatible charger or pack. If your garage already has an 18V ONE+ battery and charger, the separate tool-only code may be more useful; compare the exact package contents rather than assuming two nearby product names differ only by price. A 40V RYOBI battery from a larger mower does not substitute for an 18V ONE+ pack.

Operation and storage still matter

The P1108 manual says not to use the mower on wet grass and gives 15 degrees as the maximum slope, with mowing across the slope rather than up or down. That is not a guarantee that any less-steep incline is safe for a particular operator. Before changing the mowing setup, adjusting the cut or cleaning, stop the blade, remove the start key and battery, and wait for the blade to stop. The manual says not to clean with a hose and calls for indoor, dry storage. The handle folds for compact storage, but confirm the footprint and support position for your own space.

Short decision rule

Choose P1108BTL if a narrow push mower works for your yard and you already have compatible 18V ONE+ battery and charging equipment. Choose P1180 if the same body fits but you need its one 4Ah battery and charger included. Compare the 16-inch P1109BTL or P1190 when wider passes matter; switch to another mower family if self-propulsion or side discharge is an essential need. Neither package changes the 13-inch deck or turns a manufacturer runtime estimate into a guaranteed area-per-charge result.
