Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does LM2022SP have powered self-propelled travel?
Yes. EGO lists variable-speed self-propulsion, and the linked manual describes a drive trigger with a separate speed-control lever for LM2020SP.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the LM2022SP kit include a 7.5 Ah battery?
Yes. The exact EGO configuration table lists one 7.5 Ah battery in the LM2022SP kit; the LM2020SP row is the bare tool.
Explore this need in the finder →Is the LM2022SP deck steel?
Yes. The exact product page identifies the mower as a 20-inch steel-deck model.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the exact mower use Touch Drive palm controls?
No. The linked model-family manual identifies a self-propel trigger and a separate speed-control lever; Touch Drive is not confirmed.
Explore this need in the finder →Is an included high-lift blade confirmed for LM2022SP?
No. The exact package table lists the battery and Rapid Charger but does not confirm a separate high-lift blade.
Explore this need in the finder →The EGO LM2022SP is a 20-inch steel-deck battery mower with variable-speed self-propelled travel. The exact EGO US configuration table distinguishes the LM2022SP kit—one 7.5 Ah battery and a Rapid Charger—from the mower-only LM2020SP, which includes neither. EGO's page displayed “Coming Soon” for both codes on 2026-10-23, so the configuration is documented but that status is not evidence of retailer stock or an available ship date.
The main difference is powered travel, not a wider cut
At 20 inches, this deck remains narrower than EGO's 21- and 22-inch walk-behinds. A narrow cut path can make a route around beds or through smaller lawn sections easier to plan, but it usually means more passes than a wider mower. Measure the whole mower and storage path: “20-inch” describes the cutting width, not the width of the handle, wheels or deck. Self-propel can reduce the effort of pushing during a mowing pass, but it does not make the machine light to lift or convenient around every tight turn.
The operating controls are distinctive. The linked LM2020SP/LM2020 manual labels a self-propel trigger and a separate speed-control lever on the LM2020SP. The trigger switches drive on or off, while the separate lever changes travel speed. The manual says the drive and blade can be operated independently, so the mower can propel without cutting or be pushed with drive disengaged. This is not the Touch Drive palm-pressure arrangement used by other EGO mowers, and the propel-speed lever is not a selectable blade-speed mode.
Know which battery package you are comparing
LM2022SP's exact page lists a single 7.5 Ah ARC Lithium battery and Rapid Charger. That is separate from the mower-only LM2020SP code shown in the same table. The 7.5 Ah figure is capacity per included pack; it is not an estimate of area per charge. EGO's current page highlights up to 70 minutes but also states a 60-minute runtime in its descriptive text. The linked manual's LM2020SP table estimates about 70 minutes with a 7.5 Ah pack and 45 minutes with 5.0 Ah, noting that conditions change the result. These are manufacturer estimates, not a controlled test or guarantee for a particular property.
The manual's printed specification table lists 60.68 pounds without a battery pack and with the mulch insert for LM2020SP. EGO's 2021 product catalog lists 63.7 pounds without a battery for the LM2020SP/LM2022SP family. The exact current product page does not resolve that difference, so I would not use one value as a definitive exact-kit weight. In any case, an operator should think separately about powered travel and lifting the mower into a car or over a threshold.
Cutting setup and care
EGO lists mulching, bagging and side discharge, along with one-lever six-position height adjustment, an easy-access grass bag, push-button start, LED headlights, foldable storage and IPX4 weather-resistant construction. The manual cover names LM2020SP/LM2020, and its packing list describes the grass bag and frame, a preinstalled mulch insert and a side-discharge chute. Bagging requires removing the mulch insert; side discharge requires the insert to stay in place. The manual lists a 1.7-bushel bag and six cut heights from 1 3/16 to 4 inches. This manual is linked from the exact LM2022SP page, and the package table explicitly bridges LM2020SP as the mower-only version, but the manual cover does not itself name the LM2022SP kit code.
The exact kit page confirms a standard 20-inch blade family but does not state that a separate high-lift bagging blade is included. A high-lift accessory or the ability to collect clippings does not satisfy a requirement that the blade be in the exact carton. If that specific blade is essential, treat its inclusion as unknown until EGO or the seller confirms the LM2022SP package.
How questionnaire choices change the shortlist
LM2022SP fits a self-propelled requirement, a 20-inch minimum, a steel-deck requirement, and the documented speed-lever-and-trigger control. The same model supports each of the three listed clipping routes through separate arrangements. It does not fit a push-only requirement, Touch Drive, a 22-inch minimum, or a demand for three selectable blade-speed modes. Its kit supports a 7.5 Ah per-pack minimum and one included battery; it does not meet a two-pack or two-port requirement. An essential high-lift blade remains a non-match because the exact package page does not establish inclusion.
Compare the push-only LM2021 if you prefer to supply all forward motion and want a steel 20-inch deck. For a wider cut path, the 22-inch LM2236SP has self-propelled drive and a Super Composite deck; the LM2114SP is a 21-inch self-propelled option with a different control system. These are alternatives for different constraints, not performance rankings.
The linked manual advises against mowing slopes above 15 degrees, says to mow across slopes, and recommends dry grass and taking no more than about one-third of its length in a pass. Remove the battery, wait for the blade to stop and brush debris from the underside; do not hose it. EGO lists a five-year limited tool warranty, subject to its terms. The page's “Coming Soon” notice, the runtime discrepancy and the difference between package and manual model codes all deserve a check before choosing a seller listing. No price, release date, current stock, measured runtime or personal test is claimed here.
