EGO POWER+ LM2240SP-FC 22-inch Reconditioned Mower review

The EGO LM2240SP-FC is a factory-certified reconditioned version of the 22-inch Super Composite, self-propelled Peak Power mower platform. It is sold as a bare tool: the model-specific listing specifies zero batteries and no charger, plus a grass catcher, side-discharge chute and a High-Lift lower blade. That is a different decision from the new one-pack LM2236SP kit or the two-pack LM2244SP-2 kit. Choose this only if you already have compatible EGO 56V packs and charging equipment and are comfortable with a reconditioned unit's shorter warranty.

What the FC suffix changes

The underlying mower remains a 22-inch Super Composite machine with Touch Drive self-propel, two active battery ports and the Select Cut blade system. The important change is not a different cutting width; it is the condition and purchase coverage. EGO's warranty policy lists one year for reconditioned or Factory-Certified products used for household purposes. That is materially shorter than the ordinary warranty stated for new walk-behind Super Composite models. Read the terms that apply to this exact reconditioned purchase, and confirm the seller is authorized if you expect EGO warranty service. A model code alone does not tell you the cosmetic condition, service history or what's covered beyond that policy.

Compared with the non-FC LM2240SP bare tool, both are intended for an owner supplying batteries and a charger. The FC listing is more specific about the included High-Lift Bagging lower blade, but the warranty is the central trade. It is not a substitute for the LM2244SP-2 kit if your essential need is batteries in the box.

Peak Power ports do not mean included power packs

The mower has two active ports and Peak Power can use one or two compatible 56V EGO ARC Lithium batteries. The exact LM2240SP family manual estimates up to 90 minutes in ECO mode with two 6.0 Ah packs; neither pack is included here. That conditional maximum is not an area-per-charge promise, and it should not be transferred to one smaller battery, a faster mode or demanding grass. Runtime changes with moisture, density, growth height, blade selection and pace. If you own only one pack, the mower can still be operated with one compatible pack, but do not plan on the two-pack runtime estimate.

EGO specifies up to 10.6 ft-lb of cutting torque and blade speed up to 3,200 rpm for this 22-inch Super Composite family. Those are manufacturer figures, not independent cutting or durability tests. Three selectable blade-speed modes—ECO, Normal and Turbo—let the operator trade lower demand against faster blade operation. A 2.5-bushel grass bag, side-discharge chute and five-position Precision Mulch Control cover different clipping routines. The selector spans full bagging to full mulching, with intermediate positions; it is more flexible than treating the machine as a simple three-way switch.

Blade and operating details

The reconditioned listing identifies a High-Lift Bagging lower blade in its package contents. The manual for the LM2240SP/LM2240SP-FC base model also lists a High-Performance blade set and a separate High-Lift lower blade. This supports a bagging setup without relying on a blade sold separately. The product page describes interchangeable lower blades, but the FC listing does not promise every optional blade beyond the stated package list; do not assume an extended-runtime blade is included.

Touch Drive is operator-guided self-propel: it helps move the walk-behind mower, but the user still steers and chooses the route. The manual provides eight cut-height positions from 1 to 4 inches and advises not mowing wet grass or slopes above 15 degrees. It also calls for removing the batteries before cleaning or service. The IPX4 rating is a splash-resistance statement for the mower-and-battery system, not permission to mow in rain. Follow the manual and do not hose water toward the motor fan.

Who should shortlist it?

This model can suit an EGO owner who already has compatible packs and a charger, wants a 22-inch self-propelled mower with dual ports, and accepts a one-year reconditioned-product warranty. It is a poor fit if you want a new machine, a longer new-product warranty, batteries included, or an included-battery capacity that can be compared from the listing. A hard requirement for one or two included packs should remove LM2240SP-FC rather than infer that two ports mean two batteries. In the finder, choosing the factory-certified reconditioned configuration keeps this model in scope; choosing only standard model codes excludes it.

Compare the new LM2240SP if you want the same tool-only idea without the reconditioned suffix, then check the applicable warranty and exact accessories before buying. Compare LM2244SP-2 if you need two 6.0 Ah batteries and a dual-port charger in the kit; its package is more complete, but it is a different exact SKU and the included-blade details should be checked on that kit rather than borrowed from this manual. The LM2236SP is another 22-inch composite option with a single 10.0 Ah battery and charger in its reviewed kit, but not the same dual-port Peak Power setup.

Before choosing, count the compatible batteries you already own, decide how much the shorter reconditioned coverage matters, and measure gates and storage spaces for a 22-inch deck.
