A useful fit for

A homeowner with up to a quarter acre of relatively simple mowable lawn who wants an app-scheduled wire-guided robot able to cut between 2.4 and 4 inches, and who can install its perimeter and meet the separate 15% boundary-wire slope limit.

The main tradeoff

The short 8.7-inch path is for repeated scheduled cuts, not fast recovery of overgrown turf. Exact listing runtime and charging figures (150/270 minutes) line up with the manual’s 4Ah variant, but the same manual also lists a 2Ah version with 70/140 minutes; the captured SKU package does not settle which ships. Area guidance is 0.25-acre maximum versus a 0–0.2-acre recommendation. Wire/staple quantities are unknown; 2,600 ft is a system maximum. App GPS/update features have a stated two-year prepaid term. The exact U.S. page says four-year tool warranty, while the shared manual says two years; battery coverage is unknown.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you need the option to set your robotic mower above a 3-inch cut?

The exact 25H listing and manual give a 2.4–4.0-inch range; the two reviewed low-cut Optimow models stop at 2.4 inches.

Can you install and maintain a physical perimeter-wire route rather than requiring wire-free mapping?

The exact 25H is a perimeter-wire model; the manual separates its 15% wire-grade limit from its 35% mowing-area grade limit.

Is a quarter-acre manufacturer maximum enough for your measured mowable turf?

The 25H maximum is 0.25 acre, while the manual recommends 0–0.2 acre. Use a margin for layout and conditions.

Are app scheduling and the stated two-year prepaid 4G/GPS period acceptable?

Greenworks lists app scheduling and two years of prepaid service; its FAQ says GPS and updates stop after nonrenewal while saved mowing settings remain.

Do you require a mower that can mow an area at least to the listed 35% maximum grade?

The maker lists 35% for the working area, but boundary-wire installation is limited to 15% and actual traction is not guaranteed.

This assessment covers the U.S. Greenworks Optimow 25H High Cut, SKU 2529802, model LMG402. Its defining difference from the Optimow 25 Low Cut is the cutting range: the 25H adjusts from 2.4 to 4.0 inches, while the low-cut version stops at 2.4 inches. It uses boundary wire, not wire-free mapping, and is not a broad-deck substitute for a conventional mower. This is a source-based, not hands-on, assessment.

Choose it for the taller cut, not for a larger yard

Greenworks lists a quarter-acre maximum working area; the shared manual recommends 0 to 0.2 acre, leaving margin for shape, obstacles and route complexity. The page also says “half-acre lots,” but lot size is not mowable grass area. Measure the turf the robot can actually maintain, excluding beds and paths, rather than treating either marketing phrase as a guarantee.

The high-cut range is the reason to prefer this version. Its 2.4-inch minimum is a poor fit if you need the shorter cut offered by the Optimow 25 Low Cut, whose range starts at 0.8 inch and also tops out at 2.4 inches. Conversely, the 25H can reach 4 inches for owners who want a taller maintained lawn. It does not add capacity: the reviewed Optimow 50 Low Cut is rated for up to 0.5 acre, but only cuts from 0.8 to 2.4 inches. Treat the choice as a trade between height range and area capacity, not a simple upgrade ladder.

Installation is a perimeter-wire project

This mower needs a physical boundary wire, a charging station and app setup. The maker describes the boundary wire as provided, but the exact captured SKU listing did not give a reliable included-wire or staple quantity. Do not assume the 2,600-foot maximum in the manual is what arrives in the box; it is a system limit. Before choosing the 25H, walk the whole route, measure gates and narrow passages, and plan the dock where it can stay level and reach a suitable outlet. The manual calls for a 24-inch minimum passage and clear space in front of and beside the charging dock. A complicated yard can demand more wire work than the mower’s small body suggests.

There are two different slope numbers to respect. Greenworks rates the mowing area up to 35% grade, but the boundary wire itself is limited to 15%. A steeper section that the mower might traverse does not mean you can route the perimeter wire over it. Those are manufacturer limits rather than a promise of traction on wet, loose or irregular ground. Get the boundary path right before expecting reliable scheduled coverage.

Runtime depends on which battery version is supplied

The exact product listing advertises about 150 minutes of cutting and 270 minutes of charging. Those figures match the shared manual’s 4Ah battery column for the 25H. The same manual also lists a 2Ah battery alternative, with about 70 minutes of cutting and 140 minutes of charging. The captured package listing does not explicitly settle which battery capacity ships in SKU 2529802. Confirm that detail with Greenworks or the seller before using the longer runtime pair to plan a tight schedule. Even the manufacturer’s figures are not independent lawn-coverage tests; grass height, moisture, slope, boundary layout and interruptions affect the work completed.

The 8.7-inch cutting width is narrow by walk-behind standards, but a robot works by repeating scheduled passes rather than clearing a swath quickly. Greenworks lists three pivoting blades and an IPX5 mower rating. The shared manual gives the high-cut body dimensions as 25 inches long, 20 inches wide and 12.2 inches high, with a listed weight of 26.4 pounds. These dimensions are more useful for checking under-obstacle clearance and storage than the package dimensions shown on the product page.

App features and ongoing service

Greenworks lists GreenGuide scheduling, 4G and GPS, with a prepaid two-year service period from purchase. Its FAQ says saved settings and mowing continue without renewal, but GPS tracking and software updates stop. The listing also describes skipping scheduled days when rain or frost is forecast. This suits app-based owners who value remote status during the included period; it is less suitable if you want an offline mower with no future subscription decision.

Limits, warranty and buying checks

Do not expect bagging, side discharge or clippings collection: neither the exact page nor the shared manual documents those as this mower’s operating plan. The small robot’s repeated cutting routine is not a substitute for a high-capacity mower when grass has grown long. The exact listing states a four-year tool warranty, while the shared manual describes a two-year guarantee from GlobGRO AB. Those statements are not identical, so check the current U.S. written terms and battery coverage for the exact SKU instead of assuming the manual and web listing describe the same coverage.

Check both SKU 2529802 and model LMG402 on the carton or order confirmation; Greenworks also sells low-cut Optimows and separate canopy bundles. The line drawing shown here is a shared-manual family reference for four Optimow models, not an exact-carton image or a depiction of included accessories. Consult the Optimow 25H listing and shared operator manual for current package and warranty terms.

Who should shortlist it?

Shortlist the 25H for a wire-installable lawn within the quarter-acre limit if you want a 2.4-to-4.0-inch cut and accept the dock, app and prepaid service period. Skip it for a shorter cut, more area, boundary-wire slopes above 15%, or bagging. Compare the 25 Low Cut for a smaller cut height or the 50 Low Cut for more area. Price, availability and independent performance are not asserted.
