Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Do you require corded electric power rather than a battery pack?
Yes. RYAC130-S is the corded 120V AC configuration; an outdoor-rated extension cord appropriate to the route is a separate planning need.
Explore this need in the finder →Must you propel the mower yourself instead of requiring self-propelled drive?
Yes. The RYAC130 body manual describes an operator-pushed mower, not powered wheel drive.
Explore this need in the finder →Which clipping route must this mower support?
The RYAC130 body manual documents rear bagging with the catcher or mulching with the plug; it does not establish side discharge.
Explore this need in the finder →What minimum deck width is essential?
The exact RYAC130-S page identifies a 13-inch cutting path. A required minimum wider than 13 inches rules it out.
Explore this need in the finder →Which blade layout is essential?
The RYAC130 manual depicts and instructs replacement of one cutting blade; it does not establish a CrossCut multi-blade setup.
Explore this need in the finder →The RYOBI RYAC130-S is a corded 11-amp, 120-volt push mower with a 13-inch cutting path. Its small deck and steady connection to an outlet make it a different proposition from RYOBI’s 18V P1180: both are 13-inch push mowers, but one trades battery charging for cord routing. The exact U.S. product page identifies the RYAC130-S; its operator manual names the RYAC130 mower body. This is an assessment from those manufacturer materials, not a hands-on test.
A narrow mower for a constrained route
A 13-inch deck can make sense when the lawn is small, interrupted by beds or narrow passages, and close enough to an outlet for a safe extension-cord plan. The width is not a promise that the mower is exceptionally light or effortless; no weight is published in the sources reviewed here. On a broad, open lawn, a 13-inch path means more overlapping passes than a 20- or 21-inch walk-behind. That is a geometric tradeoff, not a measured time comparison. If you value fewer passes, choose a wider deck instead of assuming the narrow one will be faster.
The RYAC130-S is operator-propelled. The motor turns the blade, but the manual does not describe a powered wheel drive. A buyer who needs self-propulsion should rule this out and compare a documented self-propelled machine such as RYOBI’s PBLLM05K2. If your route includes several turns, obstacles or separate small patches, the short cutting path may be easier to thread through than a broad deck; the extension cord still needs a deliberate path behind the mower and out of the blade’s travel.
What the corded setup asks of you
The manual specifies a 120-volt AC, 60-Hz, 11-amp motor. That avoids buying and cycling a mower battery, but puts the outlet, cord length and cord condition into the mowing plan. The manual’s packing list names the mower, handle parts, mulch plug, grass catcher and manual; it does not list a separate extension cord. Plan on an outdoor-rated cord suited to the run, rather than assuming one comes in the box. For this 11-amp tool, the manual’s extension-cord table calls for 14-AWG at 25 and 50 feet and 10-AWG at 100 feet. Check the manual’s chart for the actual length and use case, inspect the cord before each use, secure the connection with the mower’s cord retainer, and keep the cord clear of the cutting path. A badly routed or undersized cord defeats the simplicity of mains power.
Unlike a cordless mower, the RYAC130-S is not waiting for a battery recharge between jobs, provided it stays connected to an appropriate supply. That does not make it unlimited in practical reach: the operator must manage the cable around trees, beds, walls and the mower itself. If an outlet is at the far end of the yard, the cord path becomes a real inconvenience and a safety issue, not a minor accessory detail. If your main goal is to avoid a tether, compare the 18V ONE+ P1180 kit, which uses one included 4.0Ah battery and charger; its maker-stated runtime and area estimates are not guarantees for a particular lawn.
Two documented clipping routes, not three
The RYAC130 manual describes rear bagging with the included catcher or mulching with the included plug. It treats them as alternate setups: remove the plug before attaching the catcher, and disconnect power before changing the configuration. I found no documented side-discharge route for this exact body. A buyer who wants the option to throw clippings sideways should choose a model whose manual and package list explicitly support it rather than treating a rear-discharge opening as evidence of a chute.
The specified cutting-height range is 0.75 to 2.25 inches. That range may fit someone who prefers a low cut, but it is a material constraint if you require a higher maximum setting. The manual depicts a single cutting blade and gives no multi-blade system claim. It also lists a carrying handle and a handle assembly that can be lowered for storage. Those details support compact storage planning, but they do not change the narrow deck or make it a self-propelled machine.
Safety and ownership limits belong in the choice
RYOBI’s manual says not to use the mower in rain or damp locations, caps operation at 15-degree inclines, and directs the operator to mow across a slope rather than up or down it. Treat that figure as a manufacturer limit, not proof that every lesser slope is safe under every footing condition. The manual also asks the operator to keep the extension cord out of the working area, inspect it before use, stop the motor and disconnect power before clearing or servicing, and store the mower indoors and dry. The same manual states a three-year limited warranty for personal, family or household use and 90 days for commercial, rental or other income-producing use; verify current warranty terms with RYOBI for the exact purchase.
This mower fits best when you want a conventional push machine, rear bagging or mulching, a 13-inch path and corded operation near a suitable outlet. It is a poor fit if you need self-propelled travel, side discharge, a wider deck, a higher maximum cutting setting, battery operation or a cord-free route. For more width compare larger walk-behind models; for the same narrow cut without a cord compare the P1180 battery kit. These differences matter more than a generic preference for electric power.
