Exact-kit comparison

Greenworks LM2108, LM2118 or LM2118S? Compare exact 21-inch 80V packages

The name fragments are easy to mix up: LM2108 and LM2118 are 21-inch 80V push-mower kits, while LM2118S refers here to a separately listed open-box self-propelled package. The three records share brand, voltage and nominal cutting width; their actual movement control, included batteries and purchase-condition terms are not interchangeable. Start with the job and the package, not a product-title similarity.

Choose how you want the mower to move

LM2108 (SKU 2550702 / MO80L415) and LM2118 (SKU 2541202 / LMB454) are presented by Greenworks as push mowers. Both use the operator to propel the machine and both come with one 4Ah pack. The LM2118 page adds Auto-Switch and documents two active battery ports, but only one battery is included; a second compatible pack must come from elsewhere. The LM2108 page and manual do not establish a second active port, so its port count remains unknown rather than assumed to be one or two.

By contrast, the LM2118S open-box SKU 2544502-OB page identifies a self-propelled mower. Its linked manual describes a drive lever and speed control, and its package page lists a 4Ah plus a 2Ah pack. A requirement for powered travel therefore rules out the two push kits, while a push-only requirement rules out LM2118S. Do not let “Auto-Switch” imply self-propulsion: battery sequencing and drive movement are separate features.

Ask whether one pack or two must be supplied

The two standard push kits each list a single 4Ah battery and a 4A charger. LM2118’s second port can be useful if you already have a compatible Greenworks 80V battery and want the mower to switch packs. It does not satisfy a requirement for two packs in the original box. The open-box LM2118S page lists separate 4Ah and 2Ah batteries; their combined nominal capacity is 6Ah, but they remain two packs with different capacities. Capacity labels do not turn into a guaranteed runtime or area. The maker’s published maximums differ, but lawn conditions and use determine actual work per charge.

Clipping modes and attachments

All three manuals describe mulching, bagging and side discharge, but package itemization differs. Each exact page lists a grass catcher. The LM2118 manual packing list names a side-discharge chute but not a mulch plug; the LM2108 manual describes both parts, while its page itemizes only the catcher, battery, charger and manual. The LM2118S page names a high-lift blade and catcher, but the open-box package and its alternate packaging deserve a box-content check. Greenworks calls the machines “4-in-1” and includes Turbo language; the manuals describe Turbo as a temporary higher blade-speed setting, not as an independent physical clipping route or leaf-vacuum attachment. If one insert, chute or blade type is essential, verify the exact supplied part instead of assuming it from a general feature label.

What the package pages leave uncertain

LM2108 is advertised for up to 38 minutes and a half acre; LM2118 for up to 40 minutes and a half acre; the open-box LM2118S page claims up to 60 minutes and three-quarters of an acre. Treat all as manufacturer maximums, not field guarantees. LM2108’s listed 62.8-pound weight does not state a battery basis. LM2118’s linked manual gives 60.6 pounds without a pack. LM2118S’s listed 65 pounds also lacks a clear basis. Do not compare those figures as though they were the same ready-to-cut configuration.

The standard LM2108 and LM2118 pages state four-year limited tool and battery coverage. The LM2118S open-box listing conflicts: one part of the page says four years, while its specification table says 90 days. Its linked manual’s 90-day statement applies to renewed/refurbished products, not clearly to this open-box SKU. That condition-and-warranty conflict is a material reason to keep the open-box configuration reference-only until written terms are clear.

Use the exact code in your shortlist

For a standard push kit with one 4Ah pack, compare LM2108 and LM2118 on the exact needs that matter: battery ports, Auto-Switch, clipping attachments, height adjustment and weight basis. Choose a self-propelled model only if powered travel is actually required. If considering LM2118S, distinguish its SKU 2544502-OB open-box package from LM2118 SKU 2541202, and resolve warranty and returns before treating it like a new standard kit. In every case, use the operator manual that matches the machine’s code. Do not mow wet grass; the manuals also limit slope use to 15 degrees and advise across-slope operation, but safe footing remains more important than a nominal maximum.
