Honda HRR216 serial ranges and common replacement parts
On an older Honda HRR216, order parts from the model and serial marks on the machine rather than from a broad “HRR216” description. Honda’s parts catalog assigns different generation suffixes to adjacent MZCG frame ranges, and the maker’s quick reference shows where common service-part numbers change. Use this table to narrow a lookup—not to treat every part as interchangeable or to infer a used mower’s full specification.

These six generation ranges are individually listed by Honda’s HRR216 parts catalog, and the maker’s quick reference repeats the same four common replacement-part numbers for those K3–K8 bands. That is helpful evidence for those listed service items. It is not proof that all engine parts, options, dimensions, mowing controls or accessories are identical between generations. A parts catalog may also supersede a number or show a different assembly for a type-specific or engine-serial break, so confirm the current fit with Honda’s official parts lookup or an authorized servicing dealer before ordering.
Why K9 and later need closer identification
Honda’s quick reference changes the blade numbers for its K9 row. It also divides that row by type: for VLAA/VYAA, the listed air cleaner changes at engine serial 2,019,419, while PKA/VKA have a different listed air cleaner. K10/K11 have their own listed recoil-starter number. The frame range tells you which generation to investigate; for a split engine part, the engine serial matters too. Do not choose a filter, blade or starter solely because a seller says “fits HRR216.”
For a used mower, photograph both the frame and engine serial labels before shopping for service parts. Compare the prefix as well as the digits; Honda’s catalog uses MZCG for these HRR216 generations. Then check the full exact model/type, inspect what hardware is present and ask Honda or a servicing dealer to verify current supersessions. A parts table does not prove current stock, aftermarket interchangeability, remaining warranty, recall-repair status or mechanical condition.
K5 is identifiable even though its separate measurements are not
The K5’s exact MZCG interval is 7,800,001–7,999,999, distinct from the K6 interval immediately after it. Honda’s Type VXA owner-manual selector links a single B250 manual across both K5 and K6 ranges, but that manual’s printed numerical specification panel names K6. The K5 row in the quick-reference guide confirms the listed service parts above; it does not supply K5-specific cutting width, weight, cut-height or bag-capacity figures. If one of those numbers is essential, do not borrow the K6 table—ask Honda to verify the exact machine or choose a model whose relevant figures are documented for its own serial range. See the separate K5 VXA assessment for the limits of what its sources confirm.
Primary references: Honda’s HRR216K5–K11 parts catalog, the Honda lawn-mower quick reference guide, and Honda’s U.S. HRR owner-manual selector. The quick reference says it lists common replacement parts for recent production models; it is not a complete model-specification source.
