Exact-package comparison
Toro 21327, 21568T or 21466? Compare three 60V walk-behind setups
These three Toro battery mowers are easy to confuse if a listing shortens the model name to “21-inch 60V” or hides the suffix. Model 21327 is a 21-inch Recycler kit with a battery and charger plus a drive-bar speed adjustment. Model 21568T is a 21-inch Super Recycler bare tool with Personal Pace and a cast-aluminum deck. Model 21466 is a 22-inch Recycler kit with a battery and charger and Personal Pace. Exact package, drive control and deck material should lead the comparison—not a headline runtime.
Package first: kit or tool-only?
The 21327 page lists one 6.0 Ah/324 Wh battery, charger model 88610 in its matching operator manual, mower and 2.0-bushel bag. Toro gives 230 minutes as charge time and up to 52 minutes as maximum runtime, with conditions affecting the result. The 21568T page and its operator manual say zero batteries and zero chargers are included. Its compatible pack and charger must be owned already or obtained separately; there is no exact-package runtime to compare. The 21466 is also a kit: its page and manual identify one 6.0 Ah battery, charger and 1.8-bushel bag.
Those package facts change the shopping question. A household entering the 60V line should compare the two included-kit arrangements. A household with compatible Flex-Force batteries may find the 21568T’s body-only configuration more relevant, but compatibility is not the same as a pack being in the box. For a used mower, inspect the actual model plate and the actual battery/charger labels: new-package contents do not prove what a prior owner still has.
Drive control is a real difference
All three have powered rear-wheel drive, but their controls are not interchangeable. The 21327 manual identifies a self-propel drive bar. Pull it to the handle to engage; Toro says its maximum speed is fixed and increasing the space between the bar and handle reduces ground speed. By contrast, the 21568T and 21466 are labeled Personal Pace. Their manuals describe the mower automatically keeping pace with the operator walking with hands on the upper handle. If the feel of a particular hand control matters, set it as an essential requirement in the finder rather than assuming every “self-propel” label describes the same operation.
Deck, width and clipping route
The 21327 has a 21-inch, 15-gauge steel Recycler deck, a 1.25-to-3.75-inch cutting-height range and a two-point adjustment. The 21568T is also 21 inches but is a cast-aluminum Super Recycler deck, with a 1-to-4-inch height range and the listed 1.8-bushel bag. The 21466 has a 22-inch, 14-gauge steel deck and the same 1-to-4-inch stated range as the 21568T. Measure gates, storage and turns: cutting width is not the outside width of the whole machine.
Bagging and mulching are supported for all three, with bag capacity differing by configuration. Side discharge needs a separate chute rather than being assumed from the mower’s three-way description; Toro states the chute is not in the box for these models and says it can be requested after registration. The 21568T’s family manual depicts an efficiency blade installed and a curved performance blade included as an alternative. It does not call that alternative a high-lift blade, and the detailed page lists one rotary blade in the mower. A separate high-lift blade requirement should remain unconfirmed unless the exact offered package proves it.
Area, weight and ownership caveats
Toro’s 21327 product page gives up to 52 minutes of runtime and conflicts on yard size: feature copy says up to one-half acre in that time while the Yard Size field says up to one-third acre. Do not average those claims or promise that area to a buyer. Toro lists a 1/3-acre yard-size value for 21568T, but its bare-tool package has no battery or runtime; that claim does not describe a supplied pack. The 21466 also has conflicting area statements on its page. None of these three receives a hard area recommendation here.
The pages list weights of 66 lb for 21327, 78 lb for 21568T and 85 lb for 21466, but they do not clearly state the battery-weighing basis. Those numbers are not equivalent to verified bare-mower weights. Consult the serial-appropriate manual before care or storage. For example, the 21327 manual requires its battery and start button removed and the cutting height set to at least 1-3/4 inches for vertical stow, while the 21568T and 21466 manuals specify no higher than 3-5/8 inches. Follow the exact machine’s instructions, do not store or transport it upright casually, and do not mow wet grass or in rain.
Choose the configuration that matches the yard
- Consider 21327 for an included 6.0 Ah kit, 21-inch steel Recycler deck and drive-bar travel control. Compare the one-pack plan with your area, but do not treat the conflicting acreage copy as a promise.
- Consider 21568T if the compatible Toro battery and charger are already owned, Personal Pace is desired and a cast-aluminum Super Recycler deck is the meaningful distinction. Budget for missing power equipment and confirm any chute separately.
- Consider 21466 when a wider 22-inch path and an included 6.0 Ah kit matter, with Personal Pace rather than the 21327 drive bar. Its own manual, package and area caveats still apply.
