EGO LM2100-FC vs LM2100SP-FC: push, drive and package
The EGO LM2100-FC and LM2100SP-FC are related 21-inch factory-certified reconditioned mowers, but the “SP” changes how the machine travels and the retail status differs as well. Both exact -FC packages are bare tools without a battery or charger. A capacity or runtime claim attached to a compatible EGO battery is not a promise that the pack comes in the carton.
Start with how you want the mower to move
LM2100-FC is push-only: the operator supplies all forward force. LM2100SP-FC has a self-propel trigger and a separate speed-control lever; its documented travel range is about 0.9–3.1 mph. That is a practical distinction on long straight passes, but the self-propel system does not steer the mower, eliminate lifting or make steep slopes appropriate. The EGO manual warns not to mow slopes over 15 degrees and not to mow wet grass.
The two models otherwise share the manual’s older 21-inch platform, six cutting-height positions from 1.5 to 4 inches, a two-bushel collection bag and three clipping modes. The manual lists the push body at 55.34 pounds and the self-propel body at 62.61 pounds without the battery and with the mulch insert fitted. If you regularly carry a mower through a doorway or lift it into storage, powered drive is not the only weight-related consideration.
Compare the exact package, not the familiar body
Each code is reconditioned and has one-year consumer tool coverage under EGO’s policy. Neither exact package includes a battery or charger. For LM2100-FC, EGO’s manual estimates 45/30/20 minutes in light/medium/heavy load with a separately purchased 5.0 Ah battery. For LM2100SP-FC, the listed maximum is up to 60 minutes with a separate 7.5 Ah pack; the manual’s corresponding estimates are 60/45/30 minutes across those load levels. Grass, height, moisture and pace change the result. None of those figures is an area-per-charge guarantee.
The exact LM2100-FC listing is marked discontinued, so keep it as a reference for an older mower or a specific leftover offer rather than a current recommendation. LM2100SP-FC remains a separately identified model code, but its live retail availability can change. A new-kit shopper should compare a package such as LM2101, which has a separate 5.0 Ah battery and Rapid Charger, or a newer EGO mower kit that actually lists the equipment needed for a first mow. Do not move those kit contents or the standard-new warranty onto an -FC bare tool.
Clipping equipment and maintenance still matter
Both -FC listings describe mulching, bagging and side discharge. The family manual lists a grass bag and frame, a pre-installed mulch insert and a side-discharge chute, but reconditioned seller pages do not give a complete, part-by-part carton inventory. Confirm the chute and insert if one route is essential. A High-Lift blade is a separate requirement: its inclusion in either exact -FC package is not confirmed, even though the mower family supports bagging. The finder therefore should not treat an unknown blade as an included kit feature.
After use, stop the blade and wait for it to stop before removing the battery to clear grass or perform care. The manual says not to wash the mower with a hose. If the need is powered drive, select LM2100SP-FC; if it is push-only travel, LM2100-FC matches the physical preference but its discontinued status makes a current alternative the more practical purchase path. If battery and charger must arrive in the box, neither -FC configuration satisfies that requirement.
